Berlèse, 1840, Monographie, ed.2, p.95: Leaves, 2.7 cm wide x 5.4 cm long, lanceolate, recurved apex, fine serrations, prominent venation, the green of ‘Pomponia’ (Pompone). Flower 8-10 cm across, full, of a soft rose-pink. The exterior petals are in many rows and are of different forms. The first are broad, obtuse, horizontal, very notched, some marked with a dirty white, the others rumpled, twisted, separated from those of the circumference; those of the centre are long-oval, numerous, serried and fasciculate, erect, entire and of a paler rose than the outer petals. Originated in Italy.
