Izu Ohshima Hawaii Botanical Gardens, 1980 as ‘Hinokuni’. No description. Yokoyama & Kirino, 1989, Nihon no Chinka, p.207, colour photo and descrip­tion: Large size, dark red, higo form single of 5-6 irregular petals with frilled margins and a cen­tral burst of stamens with pinkish filiments and golden anthers. Late blooming. Leaves olive to mid-green, ovate, apices tapering acute, margins serrulate. Originated in the Kumamoto Pre­fecture, Japan. Probably the same variety as Imakumagai.
