ICS., Apr.1990, Japanese Camellia Cultivar List, p.8: Very small, red, single, sake-cup form flower with aborted stamens. Blooms mid-season. Originated in the Shimane Prefecture, Japan. A sport from a wild japonica on Kitsunejima Island. Discovered and named by Kiyokuma Oka in 1982.
