» English Description

Hiratsuka, 1964, Higo Camellia, p.10 & 11, with black and white photo, p.19: A white Higo flower, selected by Daigorō Hirose. Recognised by the Higo Camellia Society in 1962. 10 cm across, 5-7 petals, about 140 sta­mens with white filaments. Late blooming. Leaves long-ovate, lustrous, dark green, sometimes with yellow variegation. Seibundō Shinkōsha, 1979, Senchinshū, p.243. Higo Camellia, 2000, Franco Ghirardi : 5-7 pure white petals, with softly round, delicated pleated edges, they are 140 white stamens, thin as silk thread and displayed in a sunburst pattern, the pistil is white and is divided into 3-4 parts. Different readings: ‘Hiroseshiro’, ‘Hirose-haku’. Originated in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan.
