Hongliufang. (Camellia japonica)  Synonym: None  Originate: Chongqing  Characteristics: Bud mutant originated from variety ‘Huayanghong’,. Plant habit vigorous, canopy open, medium branching. Leaves dark green, elliptic, flat, smooth and finely serrate near apex, measured 6.5 cm to 8 cm across by 3.5 cm to 4.5 cm wide. Calyxes open. Petaloids by almost all stamens. Petals flat, imbricated regularly in hexagon, with white stripes along central venation, about 70 segments, with no protruded dome, flowers deep silver-red without silver shining, inner petals fully expanded without cordate shape, diameter 6 cm to 8 cm wide, floral abundance, formal double form. Florescence is from February to April, with blooming in March.  Key points of identification: Very similar with variety ’Huayanghong’, in characteristics, but petals imbricated regularly in hexagon without a protruded dome.

陈绍云等,1985《浙江山茶花》87页。周利主编、2011《川茶品种图鉴》 p.108。花洋红芽变品种。树势中等，树冠较开张，成枝力中等，枝叶茂密；叶椭圆形，叶长8.5cm-8cm,宽3.5cm-4.5cm,叶片平展，叶缘先端锯齿明显，叶色深绿；花萼开张，平瓣花多轮，70枚，雄蕊完全退化，花瓣平展，沿花瓣中脉有白色条斑，花瓣呈六角形重叠，花心不隆起，不具银光，花银红色偏喑，内层花瓣完全展开，不成鸡心形，完全重瓣型，花朵稠密，花径6cm-8cm，花期2片-4月，盛花期3月。识别特征：性状与花洋红相近，花瓣呈六角形重叠，花心不隆起。原始产地：重庆
