» English Description

Hongrou No. 1 (C. gauchowensis). China Regn. #2022-356. China Flowers & Horticulture, 2022, No.4, p.49. Originated and registered by Liao Boyong, Li Yongquan, Wang Longyuan, Guo Wei, Liang Guansheng from Zhongkai University of Agriculture and Engineering, China. Small trees, half-opened. Shoots green; young branches reddish brown. Leaves medium dense, arranged pinnate along branches. Leaf blade elliptic, adaxially dark green, abaxially pale green, leathery, shiny, medium thick, apex narrow and shortly caudate, base cuneate, 5.5-7.2 cm long,3.0-3.4 cm wide, glabrous, margin coarsely toothed. Petiole 0.3-0.5 cm, obliquely upward. Flower buds axillary or terminal. Sepals 5-6, imbricate, ovate, yellow, hairy. Corolla 8.0-10 cm in diameter, univalve. Petals 8-9, obovate, medium thick, apically 2-parted to 1/3, veins inconspicuous, single-colored, white inner and outer. Stamens 90-100, arrangement in Camellia sasanqua type, not petaloid. Pistils high, stigma split medium, ovary globose, villous. Capsule green, flesh red (RHS:180A). Flowering in December, lasted one month.
