Huoyan

Huoyan (C. japonica). China Regn. #2021-330. China Flowers & Horticulture, 2021, No.4, p.65. Origianted and registered by Dong Rihong. It is a sport of traditional Chinese cultivar ‘Chidan’. Flowers bright red, rose double form to fully double form, medium-size, with more than 50 petals, arranged in 8-9 round imbricates, the middle petals semi-upright, thick, broad and obovate, with irregular edges deep serration, medium blooming. Young leaf buds  light red, mature leaves  light green, bright, irregular oval, and leaf veins clear. The plant is open, the branches and leaves are dense, and the growth is vigorous. The flowering period is similar to that of its female parent, and it usually blooms in early spring.

火焰 Camellia japonica ‘Huoyan’ 中国登录号：2021-330，《中国花卉园艺》2021年第4期65页。由董日红培育并登录。系‘赤丹’芽变品种。花朵艳红色，玫瑰重瓣型至完全重瓣型，中型花，花瓣50枚以上，呈8～9轮覆瓦状有序排列，中部花瓣半直立，花瓣厚质，阔倒卵形，边缘具不规则深锯齿，开花量中等。嫩叶芽淡红色，成熟叶淡绿色，光亮，不规则的椭圆形，革质，叶面脉纹清晰。植株开张，枝叶稠密，生长旺盛。开花期与其母本类似，通常在春初开花。
