» English Description
Hyris de Kergoat (C.japonica). European Reg. No. 199. Originated by Monique Rolland, Quéménéven, France, propagated by Jacques Roué, Plouzévédé for the SBC (Société Bretonne du Camellia). Seedling of unkown parentage, first flowering in 2010. Plant: growth habit upright, mid-season flowering. Flower: medium 8-10 cm in width, semi-double to formal double, round outer petals, no stamens, deep purplish pink (RHS2015 N66C), fading towards the center. Leaf: medium10 x 5 cm, oval plane, serrated margin, medium green. Story: “Hyris” is the first name of the breeder’s niece and the second the place name of the breeder.
