Seibundō Shinkōsha, 1989, Senchinshū, p.18, colour photo, p.201, description: Medium to large white single, with 7-9 somewhat crinkled, emarginate petals and a large stamen cluster with light yellow anthers, cream filaments. Leaves glossy, mid-green, broad-ovate, apex blunt acute, venation impressed, finely, shallowly serrate. Originated in the Kansai District, Japan. Different reading: ‘Ichifuzi’. Note: This name is part of a popular saying; “Ichi-fuji, Ni-take, San-nasubi”, meaning “Fuji the first, Hawk the second, Eggplant the third”. This is the order of auspicious symbols in the first dream of the new year.
