Encyclopedia of Camellias in Colour, vol.II, 1978, pl.338, p.140; Yokoyama & Kirino, 1989, Nihon no Chinka, p.22; Seibundō Shinkōsha, 1979, Senchinshū, p.18, colour photo, p.201, description: A small, campanulate, pure white single of 5 petals, with a central column of stamens with pale yellow anthers and white filaments. Leaves small, dark green, lanceolate, tapering acuminate apices, serrate. Blooms mid-season to late. Originated in Kurume, Fuku'oka Prefecture, Japan. Resembles Sasameyuki. Rarely sets seed. Nippon Tsubaki - Sasanqua Meikan, 1998, p.32 with colour photo; English translation p.20 Upright, vigorous but slow growth. Discovered by Yasuhiko Yamada, named and released by Yoshiyuki Toyofuku in 1970.
