Nippon Tsubaki - Sasanqua Meikan, 1998, p.33 with colour photo; English translation p.20. Small, dark red, cup to bowl shaped single with thick petals and cylindrical stamens. Flowers early to mid-season. Leaves elliptic, medium size, somewhat flat. Upright, vigorous growth. Selected from wild camellias in Tottori Prefecture, named and released by Nobuo Sasai in 1979. From Tottori to Okayama.
