Yokoyama, 1975, Gendai Tsubaki Meikan, p.69, black and white photo. For colour photos see pl.359, Encyclopedia of Camellias in Colour, vol.II 1978; Seibundō Shinkōsha, 1979, Senchinshū, pp.15,199: An irregular, campanulate single of frosty pink, finely peppered a deeper pink, 5-6 petals, somewhat crinkled round the edges and with a central stamen column. Leaves elliptic, apex acuminate, shallowly serrate, impressed venation. Discovered in 1960s by Kazutoshi Ōhara at Iogi, Suginami Ward, Tokyo. Named and released by Takashi Tsuyama in 1974. "Nashiji" was an ancient method of painting with gold lacquer.
