Isoli

A single medium size pink flower with some lighter shading and a good yellow centre of stamens and 7 to 8 petals, on a vigorous upright plant which is reasonably compact despite some long arching growth. The plant originates in Northern Italy and was named after Dr Italo Isoli in whose garden it was growing, after being found as a self sown seedling, perhaps of C. sasanqua 'Cleopatra' in the area around Lake Maggiore. It was selected by Luigi Ratti of Ghiffa, Lago Maggiore and introduced by Paolo Zacchera of Compagnia del Lago, Lago Maggiore, Italy. The Camellia flowers well with the usual sasanqua musky fragrance and its leaves are 5-6cms long by 3-3.2 cms wide with bronze new growth. International Camellia Society, 2023.
