Jincan Honyun

Jincan Honyun (C. azalea × C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Xiangxia Hongjiao'). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.309. HAR-11-1., a cross seedling (DXXHJ-No.3) of C. azalea × C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Xiangxia Hongjiao'. Flowers red slightly with waxy luster and hazy tiny white patches or stripes, rose-double form, medium size, 8.0-9.5cm across and 5.0cm deep with 28-35 exterior large petals arranged in 4-5 rows, petals narrow obovate, rolled outward, stamens short and mixed with central small petals, bloom dense. Leaves dark green, leathery, elliptic, cuneate at the base, margins sparsely and obtusely serrate. Plant compact and growth vigorous. Starts to bloom from early-summer, fully blooms from autumn to winter and sporadically in spring. The cultivar name means “Gold Shining in Red Clouds”.
