Jiutian Yaochi

Jiutian Yaochi (C. azalea × C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Xiangri Guangchang'). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.327. HAR-14-1., a cross seedling (DGC-No.1) of C. azalea × C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Xiangri Guangchang'. Flowers red, slightly with waxy luster, semi-double to rose-double form, medium to large size, 9.5-12.5cm across and 6.5cm deep with 30-35 large petals arranged in 4 rows, petals broad obovate, edges slightly rolled inward, a few of small petals mixed with stamens at the center, stamens diffused, bloom dense. Leaves dark green, leathery, broad elliptic, cuneate at the base, margins shallowly serrate. Plant upright and growth vigorous. Starts to bloom from early-summer, fully blooms from autumn to winter and sporadically in spring. The cultivar name means “Jade Pool at the Ninth Heaven”.
