Minagawa, 1933, Chinkashū. Colour plate, Tuyama, 1966, Camellia Cultivars of Japan, pl.114: Medium size, scarlet, semi-double, petals in 2-3 rows, emarginate; irregular stamen column. Leaves mid-green, ovate, coarsely serrate. Wada, 1941, Garden Treasures of Japan, p.30 as a semi-double form of ‘Red Otome’ (Kō-otome). Originated in Japan.
