Yokoyama & Kirino, 1989, Nihon no Chinka, pp.14, 15, colour photo and description: Very small size, white, wide campanulate single of 5 oval, emarginate, reflexed petals with a centre column of stamens, filaments white, joined for the lower half, anthers gold. Blooms mid-season to late. Leaves deep green, lanceolate, margins crenate. Originated in the Chūbu area, Japan. Nippon Tsubaki - Sasanqua Meikan, 1998, p.104 with colour photo; English translation p.70. A cross between Shiro-wabisuke and Sasameyuki. Named and released by Minoru Satō in 1963.
