Seibundō Shinkōsha, 1979, Senchinshū, p.48, colour photo, p.212, description: Medium size, 8-9 cm across, dark scarlet, with 6-7 large, irregular petals and a compact, central stamen column with pinkish filamens joined for the lower third, and yellow anthers. Leaves deep green, broad elliptic, apices acute, margins finely serrulate. Blooms mid­season to late. See p.189, Yokoyama & Kirino, 1989, Nihon no Chinka. Originated on Izu Ōshima Island, Japan. Discovered and released by Takeo Ogawa in 1969.
