Nippon Tsubaki - Sasanqua Meikan, 1998, p.75 with colour photo; English translation p.51. Medium size, red, sake cup-shaped to trumpet form single, cylindrical stamen column. Late flowering. Leaves elliptic, somewhat small, flat. Upright, vigorous growth. A chance seedling of ‘Goshiki-yae-chiri-tsubaki’ (Goshikichiri-tsubaki), originated and named by Katsuyoshi Yoshikawa and Naoyoshi Adachi in 1982. From Kyoto.
