ACRS., 1981, Camellia News, No.79, p.28, Reg. No.264, color pi., p.40: Originated by L.I. Hobbs, Victoria, Australia. Chance seedling of C.japonica ‘Tinsie’ (Bokuhan) that first flowered 1978. It has an upright growth habit with 7.6 cm x 4.5 cm, slightly obovate, mid-green leaves, pointed apices, tapered base, small serrations. The 6.4 cm diameter, blood red, peony form flowers are produced early to mid-season. Chinese synonym ‘Wennake Furen’.
