The Floral Magazine and Garden Repository, 1832, 1:75 with colour pl.: Originated in Philadelphia, USA by Landreth. Dark rose, 8.5 cm across, with base of petals showing some red and tips of outer petals some white. Double, imbricated. Mertens & Fontaine, Collection de cent espèces.....camellia, 1845, pl. 25. Synonyms: ‘Jacksonia’, ‘Jacksonii’, ‘Landrethii Vera’, ‘Jackson’. Orthographic errors: ‘Landrethi’, ‘Landressii’, ‘Landzethii’, ‘Landrethia’, ‘Landrathii’, ‘Lendrethi’, ‘Landretti’, ‘Lamdrethii’, ‘Landrethi’. van Houtte Catalogue, 1841, 7:11, erroneously gave Nassiniana as a synonym, but later corrected this.
