American Camellia Yearbook, 1977, p.214, Reg. No.1429: A very large size, light red, anemone form. A 7 year old seedling of C.japonica Pink Elephant; originated by Paul Gilley, Grandridge, Florida, USA. The Elegans type bloom is light red with 12-16 petals, 50 petaloids, light cream filaments, yellow anthers. Average size, 12.5 cm across x 6 cm deep. Many small petals mixed with the petaloids. Blooms early to mid-season. Plant growth is upright and rapid in rate with dark green leaves, 10 cm long x 5 cm wide. Sport: Lassie Variegated.
