Liufangting

Liufangting (C. edithae × C. japonica 'Scentsation'). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.515. HC-16-1., a cross seedling (JEXW-No.1) of C. edithae × C. japonica 'Scentsation'. Flowers light red, with light purple hue and slight fragrant, single form, small to medium size, 6.5-8.5cm across with 5 petals, petals broad obovate, edges crinkled, stamens columnar, united with petals at the base, ovary pubescent, bloom dense. Tender leaves pubescent, mature leaves green, leathery, long obovate, veins sunken, base heart-shaped, petioles pubescent, apices pointed, margins finely and sharply serrate. Plant compact, upright, branches dense and growth vigorous. Blooms from late-winter to the spring of following year. The cultivar name means “Gloriette with Fragrance”.
