Lombarda (Mariani)  (C.japonica),Mercatelli Catalogue, 1881: Ivory white with many bright, carmine lines. Large, round flower. Imbricated. Mercatelli refers it to the 1854 Verschaffelt flower and it is the same as the Franchetti description for Lombarda.

No description. de Jonghe, 1851, Traité de la Culture du Camellia, p.111: (Mariani) Large double flower, similar to the Duchesse d’Orleans, bright, deep pink, white centre with well sited streaks. Franchetti, 1855, Collezione di Camelie, p.41: Ivory white with many vivid carmine stripes. Large, round, imbricated form. Verschaffelt, 1854, Nouvelle Iconographie, Book I, pl.IV, who says that it should not be confused with ‘Lombardii’ synonym for Hendersonii. Sport: Lombarda Rosea. Orthographic errors: ‘Lombardo’, Lombordo Vera’. Synonym ‘Lombarda’ (Mariani) van Geert, 1863 says “from Burdin”. A sport of Camillo Galli.
