Mariola. (C. hybrid). Publición de la Sociedad Española de la Camelia, 31. 2017, p.32. Origin of the variety: a seed of C. japonica 'Berenice Boddy’ x C.x williamsii ’Ballet Queen’ raised by Ángela Fernández Sánchez in 2008, in Sillobre-Fene, A Coruña (Spain). Bloomed for the first time in 2012 FLOWER: Size: medium, 7.5-9.5 cm in diameter and 3.5-4.5 cm depth. Colour: bright pink, 58D ( colour RHS chart) diffuse to base, and outer petals with darker margin (58C). Shape: variable, usually anemone, but it also can present rose form or even peony form. Petals: from 15 to 25, outer petals are rounded and internal elliptical or irregular; slightly cordated, notched or softly wavy margin. Petaloids: 30-55, disordered, rose 58D ( colour chart). RHS Stamens: 30-70, split arrangement, with white-cream filaments. LEAF: Size: small, 5.5-7 cm long and 2.5-3.5 cm wide. Colour: medium green, not bright. Shape: elliptical. Margin: serrate. Apex: pointed to acuminate. Base: acute. PLANT: Blooming period: early to mid season; it starts at the end of December and extends to the end of March or early April. Habit: semi-open growth habit, medium growth rate. Other data: very floriferous and cold resistant cultivar. It has participated in several Camellia Shows in Galicia since 2014.
