American Camellia Yearbook, 1983, p.163, Reg. No.1860: A large, rose red, semi-double C.japonica chance seedling, early blooming; originated by J.K. Blanchard, Wallace, North Carolina, USA. The 12 year old seedling first bloomed 1977. Average flower size, 11 cm across x 6 cm deep with 19 petals and 183 petaloids, yellow anthers and white filaments. Plant growth is upright, open and medium, with dark green leaves, 9.5 cm. x 5 cm.
