Tuyama, 1968, Camellias of Japan, pl.126, p.63, description, p.124: Leaves dark to olive green, thin, broadly-elliptic, apex acuminate, base tapered, venation impressed, 6.3-7.5 cm long x 3-3.3 cm wide; petioles, 4-8 mm long, glabrous. Flowers peony type, pink, (Neyron rose 623/2) with deeper shade (623/3) in centre. Petals, 18­24, very wavy. Stamens divided into 2-5 fascicles, with additional 2-7 petals inside the stamens. which are 2.7-3.5 cm high, filaments palest pink. Late flowering. Originated in Matsu-no­yama-mura, Higashi-kubiki-gun, Niigata Prefecture, Japan.
