Tuyama, 1968, Camellias of Japan, pl.201, p.102, description, p.149, as ‘Matsu-hana’: Leaves elliptic to broad-elliptic, venation impressed, margins cre­nate, 6.7-7.5 cm long x 3.4-4.1 cm wide; petioles, 6-7 mm long, glabrous. Flowers double, red, (Cardinal red 822/3) the centre filled with small petals and petaloids; petals 20-22, in general, rounded at the top and concave, inner petals loosely and irregularly wavy. Filaments pale pink, reddish to base with 1-7 petaloids. Late flowering. Originated in the Okayama Prefecture, Japan.
