Yokoyama & Kirino, 1989, Nihon no Chinka, p.19, colour photo and description: Medium size, white, cup-shaped single, with 5 rounded, overlapping petals and a central stamen cylinder with white filaments, joined for the lower half, and yellow anthers. Blooms early to mid-season. Leaves dark green, elliptic, apices long tapering acumi­nate, margins serrulate. Originated in Kurume, Fuku’oka Prefecture, Japan. “Minō” is the name of a mountain in Fuku’oka Prefecture.
