Nippon Tsubaki - Sasanqua Meikan, 1998, p.264 with colour photo; English translation p.186. Miniature, dark red to purplish red, tubular to trumpet shaped single, thick petals, cylindrical stamen column. Flowers mid-season. Leaves elliptic, small, flat. Spreading, vigorous growth. Selected from wild japonicas growing in Shiroyama, Hamada City. Discovered by Toshiaki Nagahashi, named and released by Kōsaku Masuda in 1985. From Shimane Prefecture.
