One Second (Camellia japonica) ACS Registration #3096. This 38-year-old C. japonica chance seedling first bloomed in the 1990s. It was originated, registered, and propagated by the Auburn-Opelika Men’s Camellia Club of Auburn, Alabama. Bloom: The medium sized 8.255cm x 3.81cm semi-double form flower is rose red (RHS color 58c) with a slight purplish cast. It has gold anthers and white filaments.This profuse bloomer falls in one piece, is long lasting, has heavy petal texture, and consistent form. The petals are crinkled and cupped inward. Some of the top petals curve outward, somewhat like rabbit ears. The filaments are numerous and curve inward. Plant: The plant habit is upright. The growth rate is average. The plant is suitable for landscaping use. Leaf: The medium green leaves average 10.79 cm x 4.70 cm with low serration. Bloom season: Late.
