» English Description
Chinese Camellia Culture, 2003, Appendix, p.570; A sport of Qixinhong. Originated in Sichuan Province, China. Flower has large or small white spots. Zhou Li, 2011, Illustrated Handbook for Sichuan Camellias, p.144. A sport of ‘Qixinhong’,. Plant habit vigorous, crown open, branches dense, with rapid growth in branches at short internodes. Leaves elliptical, flat, 7 cm to 8.5 cm across by 3.5 cm to 4.5 cm wide, serrate shallowly and sparsely. Sepals open. Petals at outer row short, flat and rounded, imbricated compactly at 2-3 rows, about 12 segments, margins crinkled, with irregular white blotches. Petaloids from almost stamens, mixed in groups with occasional stamens. Light red, pony form, diameter 9 cm to 11 cm. medium floral quantity. Blooming February to early April, at full blossoming in March. Key points of identification: very similar with variety 'Hongqixin' in characteristics, but pink petals with numerous white blotches, and more petaloids from stamens.
