American Camellia Yearbook, 1994, p.62, colour plate between pp.64-65, Reg. No.2286: A large size, medium red, rose form double to formal double, C.reticulata hybrid Bernadette Karsten x C.japonica Eleanor Martin that blooms early to mid-season. Originated by Jack Mandarich, Grants Pass, Oregon, USA. The 12 year old seedling first flowered 1984. Average flower size is 12.5 cm across x 7.5 cm deep with 18+ petals and golden stamens. Firstly opens formal, then all petals twist and go upright to rose form. Plant growth is upright, spreading and vigorous in rate with light green leaves 8 cm long x 5.5 cm wide.
