Rosalynn Carter

ACS Registration #3028 in 2017. This 9-year-old C. japonica chance seedling first bloomed in 2008. It was originated and propagated by Clarence and Lillian Gordy of Ocala, Florida, USA and registered by The American Camellia Society of Fort Valley, Georgia, USA. Flower:  large size,11.4 cm in diameter and 6.3 cm in depth,  rose form double to formal double, pink shading to lighter pink edges petals with yellow anthers and white filaments. falls in one piece and  long lasting blooming. Plant: upright, average  growth rate, suitable for landscaping and exhibition use. Leaf:  medium size, average 12.1 cm long and  6.3 cm wide,  with low serration. Bloom season: Late. 

The American  Camellia Society held a ceremony on Dec. 7, 2018 at the Carter Center in Alanta, Georgia to present the Carters with Camellia japonica 'Jimmy Carter' and 'Rosalynn Carter'. Rosalynn Carter (born on August 18, 1927 — died on November 19, 2023), is the wife of Jimmy Carter (the 39th president of the United States)—who was one of the most politically astute and active of all American first ladies.
