Berlèse, 1840, Monographie, ed.2, pp.216-217, 237: Leaves long-oval, thick, short acuminate, pronounced venation. Flower about 9 cm across, double; ground deep cherry-red with large splashes of white; exterior petals in 2-3 rows, long, reflexed, imbricated with little regard to regularity, sometimes entirely red, other times with broad bands of white, sometimes entirely white. Interior petals anemone-like, very numerous, erect, narrow, colour bright red. Originated in Belgium. Synonyms: ‘Comte de Rouvroy’, ‘Rouvroy (Comte de)’.
