American Camellia Yearbook, 1992, p.38, Reg. No.2243: A large size, carmine rose semi-double C.japonica chance seedling. Originated by William H. Hightower Jr., Thomaston, Georgia, USA. The 15 year old seedling first flowered 1980. Average flower size 10.5 cm across x 3.8 cm deep with 10 petals and 3-4 petaloids, yellow anthers and cream filaments. Plant growth is open and average with dark green leaves 8 cm long x 4.8 cm wide. See colour photos between pp.40-41.
