In the Chinka Zufu, (before 1700), Watanabe, 1968 there are three different Camellia cultivars named Ryōmen. The only red double amongst them is pl.582. Nakayama, 1847, Senka’ōden: Dark red, double, flowers do not fully open. See: Kyōto Engei Kurabu, 1963, Tsubaki Tokushū, No.4, p.80. Originated in Japan. (Believed extinct.)
