Tuyama, 1968, Camellias of Japan, pl.352, p.178, description, p.195: Leaves obovate, rhomeo-obovate to broadly elliptic, apex suddenly acuminate, upper surface strongly concave, venation raised, deeply, obtusely and unequally serrate. Flowers semi-double, palest pink to white, scantily striped rosy red, petals wide opening and partly serrulate. Late flowering. Originated in Japan. Synonym for Sakuraba-tsubaki.
