Shengri Yanhui

Shengri Yanhui (C. azalea × Non-reticulata hybrid 'Dragon Fireball'). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.158. HA-67-10., a cross seedling (DLHZ-No.14 + 15) of C. azalea × Non-reticulata hybrid 'Dragon Fireball'. Flowers dark red with waxy luster, petaloids with white markings, semi-double form, medium to large size, 9.5-12.5cm across and 5.0cm deep with 17-18 exterior large petals arranged tightly in 3 rows, petals broad obovate, thick texture, rolled outward, occasionally some small petals and petaloids appear in the center, stamens radial, bloom dense. Leaves dark green, leathery, elliptic, tips bend down, margins thinly serrate. Plant upright and growth vigorous. Starts to bloom from late-summer, fully blooms from autumn to winter and sporadically in spring. The cultivar name means “Birthday Party”.
