Sakuden, 1630, Hyakuchinshū: Red, double. The size of each flower is variable, some have no stamens. Late flowering. Originated in Japan. Shiba-onkō’s Chinese name was Sze Ma Kwang, who was an ancient Chinese scholar and politician. See: Kyōto Engei Kurabu, 1961, Tsubaki Tokushū, No.2, p.102.(Believed extinct.)
