» English Description

Hiratsuka, 1964, Higo Camellia, No.44, pp.13, 31: Deep crimson, 8-12 cm across, 7-8 petals, 100 light red stamens in a spreading cluster. Leaves large, ovate to long-ovate, lustrous dark green, sometimes showing yellow to white variegation. Originated in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. Resembles Higo-hagoromo, of which it may be a mutation. See: Seibundō Shinkōsha, 1979, Senchinshū, p.223.
