Tuyama, 1968, Camellias of Japan, pl.218, p.110, description, p.155: Leaves elliptic, base cuneate, apex finely acuminate, glossy green, impressed venation, 6.2-8.5 cm, long x 2-3.8 cm wide. Flowers of peony type, deep rose (Spinel red 0023/1), the centre full of small petaloids; outer petals 7-9, emarginate, slightly recurved; inner petals, 2-12, intermingled with stamens and 11-27 petaloids. Stamens, anthers orange-yellow, filaments pinkish orange yellow. Late flowering. Originated at Shinbō, Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan.
