Yokoyama & Kirino, 1989, Nihon no Chinka, p.368, colour photo & description: Large flower, red, peony form with a centre of small, erect, folded petals mixed with stamens. Leaves bright green, elliptic, apices acute, margins serrate. Blooms mid-season to late. Originated in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan. Named and released by Kagoshima Camellia Society in 1980. Red sport of Hayato­-no-mai. Sport: Satsuma-nishiki. Satsuma is the old name of Kagoshima Prefecture.
