Velvet Brocade    (C. japonica)   Registered in 2020. ACS Registration#3198.This 18 year-old C. japonicachance seedling of 'Beatrix Hoyt' first bloomed in 2000. It wasoriginated, registered and propagated by Pat B. Johnson of Cairo, Georgia, USA.Bloom The medium sized 8.9cm x 3.8cm formal double form flower iscranberry red. The bloom has tiny incurved petals which sometimes show whitetips. This cultivar is a profuse bloomer, falls in one piece, is long lasting,has heavy petal texture and has consistent form. Plant The planthabit is upright and open. The growth rate is vigorous. The plant is suitablefor landscaping and exhibition. Leaf The dark green leaves average6.4cm x 3.2cm with low serration. Bloom season Early to midseason.
