American Camellia Yearbook, 1966, p.102, Reg. No.891: A 9 year old chance seedling that first bloomed 1960; originated by G.S. Clarke Jr., Savannah, Georgia, USA. Plant growth is upright, dense and medium. The dark green leaves are 11 cm long x 7 cm wide. The loose, peony formed flower is heavily veined, velvet red, 15 cm across x 5.5 cm deep, with 12 petals, 21 rabbit ears and 22 petaloids, interspersed with 15 groups of yellow stamens. Mid-season blooming. Sport: War Cry Variegated.
