Chinese Camellia Culture, 2003, Appendix, p.570 as ‘Xiaobaiyangpian’; Leaf elliptic, yellowish green, vein obvious, 6-8.5 cm x 3.5-4.5 cm. Flat petals in several rows, regular arrangement centre hexagonal. Small cupped centre of petals. Flower white, 7-8 cm diameter. Flowers mid-season. Does not flower freely. From Sichuan Province, China.
Xiao baiyangpian.( Camellia japonica) Synonym: None Originate: Chongqing Characteristics: Mutant from variety ‘Baiyingpian’ plant habit relatively vigorous, open, with good growth in branches with short internodes and small branching angle. Leaves elliptical, large, dense, dark green, apex apiculate, base broad obtuse, surface flat, 6 cm to 6.5 cm across by 3 cm to 3.5 cm wide, serrated deeply and obviously. Sepals open, no light red color at base of bracts, cordate shaped before opening. Formal double, diameter 7 cm to 8 cm. Petals flat, imbricated regularly at severalrows, about 80 segments, white, reflexed at outer row, fully open at inner rows. Stamens full petaloids. Medium quantity of flowers. Flowering late February to early April, at fully blooming in March. Key points of identification: No light pink color at basal bracts, cordate-shape just before blossom.
