Xiari Hongmei

Xiari Hongmei (Non-reticulata hybrid 'Dragon Fireball'×C. azalea). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.163. HA-68-4., a cross seedling (LHZD-No.4) of Non-reticulata hybrid 'Dragon Fireball'×C. azalea. Flowers bright red, slightly with waxy luster, single form, medium size, 8.5-9.5cm across with 6 petals, petals broad obovate, slightly wavy, stamens united into a column at the base, bloom dense. Leaves dark green, leathery, broad elliptic, margins shallowly serrate. Plant upright and growth vigorous. Starts to bloom in late-summer, fully blooms from autumn to winter and sporadically in spring. The cultivar name means “Summer's Red Sister”.
