A new species of the genus Camellia (Theaceae), Camellia shuangbaiensis G.P.Yang & B.H.Wu, sp. nov., from the central region of Yunnan Province of China was published recently in PhytoKeys 254: 143–149. Camellia shuangbaiensis is morphologically similar to C. mileensis and C. hongkongensis, but it can be distinguished by its smaller leaves with an ovate, abaxially tomentose lamina, and 14–16 bracteoles and sepals. The new species has been added to the Database of International Camellia Register.
双柏山茶（Camellia shuangbaiensis Y.G. Yang and B.H. Wu）是由广州市园科院植物研究所科研团队联合中国环境科学研究院生态研究所、国家植物园科研团队，在PhytoKeys 254: 143–149在线发表的山茶属新物种。其与弥勒糙果茶（Camellia mileensis）和香港红山茶（C. hongkongensis）有一定的相似性，特别是在粗糙蒴果及红色花朵等特征方面。但双柏山茶独特的卵圆形小叶、叶背覆絨毛及14-16片苞片与萼片的数量可区分。双柏山茶产自云南楚雄彝族自治州双柏县大麦地乡，生长于干热河谷的边缘地带。目前，双柏山茶的数量仅有 100 多株，且主要分布在公路附近区域，受到人类活动的显著影响。
