A new species of the genus Camellia (Theaceae), Camellia zijinica, discovered in the Danxia landscape from Guangdong Province, China was published PhytoKeys 237: 245–255 (2024). This species has been recently added to the Database of International Camellia Register. Its young branchlets are glabrous and have fewer bracts. At present, only two populations of Camellia zijinica have been found in the mountains at an altitude of 200 to 400 meters, with a total of 90 mature individuals. According to the Red List of Endangered Species of the World Conservation Union, Camellia zijinica is an endangered species.
紫金短柱茶 Camellia zijinica M. Lin, Q. L.Ye & Q. Fan 是2024年PhytoKeys 237: 245–255在线发表的山茶属植物新物种。中山大学凡强副教授为论文通讯作者，白溪广东省级自然保护区管理处林业正高级工程师叶钦良与中山大学林敏为共同第一作者。其幼枝无毛，具更少的苞萼数量。紫金短柱茶树形优美，生长在土壤层浅薄的山地上，耐干旱耐贫瘠。目前，紫金短柱茶仅在海拔200米至400米的山地中发现两个居群，共有90株成熟个体。根据世界自然保护联盟濒危物种红色名录标准，紫金短柱茶属于濒危物种。紫金短柱茶已收录到本库中。
