On December 25, the Seventh Member Congress of the Chinese Camellia Society was held in Jinhua, Zhejiang. Totally 129 representatives from 16 provinces (cities, districts) across the country attended the congress. The member congress was held every five year
The 7th Leadership of Chinese Camellia Society was elected at the Congress. Prof. Shi Defa was the 7th president, and six vice-president: Mr. Shen Jian, Prof. Li Jiyuan, Prof. Wang Zhonglang, Mr. Wang Jicheng, Mr. Zhao Qiangming, Mr. Tang Yongjun. for a term of 5 years. The seventh board of directors has an honoray president, Prof. Guan Kaiyun of Kunming Botanical Institute.
In the past five years, due to outstanding achievements in establishment of the Database of International Camellia Register, the Kunming Institute of Botany was awarded as one of Advanced Institutions of the 6th session.
The Chinese Camellia Society was established in Hangzhou, Zhejiang in 1987. Prof. Shi Diandong was the first president of this society. Prof. Feng Guomei of the Kunming Institute of Botany was the first honorary president. Prof. Xia Lifang (first and second session) and Prof. Guan Kaiyun (third, fourth and fifth session) of Kunming Institute of Botany served as vice presidents successively.
